Q: How many clubs fit into the golf bag?

A: The Ironhorse Caddybag is designed to hold 14 golf clubs, 7 clubs per side, the maximum allowed by U.S.G.A. rules.

Q: Can I use my regular saddlebags while transporting the Caddybag on my motorcycle?

A: Yes! The Caddybag is designed as a golf bag that splits into two halves carried on either side of your motorcycle outside the saddlebags. It easily adjusts to fit all sizes of saddlebags and cruiser-style bikes. Please visit our Specs and Photos pages for details.

Q: Can I ride my motorcycle without the travel covers on the Caddybag?

A: Yes. The travel covers are an optional accessory and generally only need to be used in rainy or poor weather. Even at posted highway speeds and with the travel covers off, there isn't enough wind resistance to pull the golf clubs out of the Caddybag.

Please see our Accessories page for more information.

Q: How does the bag come off the bike?

A: There are two quick release pins for each half of the Caddybag. It takes less than a minute to remove both halves, which then fit together to form the bag.

Q: How does the golf bag assemble into one unit once it's off the bike?

A: Two straps hold the bag halves together. These straps attach at the top and bottom of the bag. Please see our Specs page.

Q: Where would I put my golf balls and other golf accessories?

A: The Caddybag is available with an optional three-pocket accessory that attaches onto the assembled golf bag. You can carry sleeves of balls, an assortment of tees and markers, your wallet, keys, and lightweight clothing.

Visit our Accessories page for photos and details.

Q: Does the foot peg still operate normally?

A: Yes, the Caddybag foot peg fits a stock motorcycle foot peg mount. The Caddybag foot peg is interchangeable with the stock foot peg and extends to whatever length is required to bypass the saddlebags. More details are available on our Specs page.

Q: Do I need a back rest to make the unit work?

A: Yes, currently a back rest is required. However, we are actively reviewing the ability to connect the system beneath the rear carrying bag of a touring cruiser, in which case a back rest would not be required. Further details will be posted to our website as they become available.

When separated into two halves, the Caddybag is designed to clip onto the foot peg and back rest of your bike. A U-shaped bracket mounts between the back rest.

Q: Can I carry a passenger while the Caddybag is attached to my bike?

A: Definitely! The modified foot peg does not affect passenger ride-ability. In fact, because of the Caddybag foot peg's increased length, there is even more space for your passenger's feet.

Q: Does the system affect bike-handling and maneuverability when the Caddybag is mounted on the motorcycle?

A: No, not in the least. The Caddybag has been road-tested over 15,000 miles, including during a two-week, 4200-mile bike trip with speeds of up to 100 miles per hour and through steep and winding roads with no effect on handling.

Q: Can you carry the assembled golf bag on your back?

A: The Caddybag is not designed for use as a carry bag for the duration of your golf game. There are handles on each half that can be used to carry the assembled bag from the motorcycle to either a pull cart or power cart. However, if you wish, you could attach a strap to the handles and the bottom bracket, creating an over-the-shoulder carry option.

Q: Does the golf bag have carry straps?

A: No. Carry straps are not provided with the Ironhorse Caddybag. However, the handles and the bottom bracket combine as appropriate anchor points for a strap of any kind.

Q: How heavy is the bag?

A: Without golf clubs inserted, the Caddybag weighs about 15 pounds. With 14 clubs, the unit weighs appromixately 30 pounds.

Q: How about chroming?

A: Chroming is done to the back rest U-bracket only. The U-bracket remains on the bike at all times.

Q: Does the Caddybag have other uses?

A: Yes, please visit our Photos page to see how easily the Ironhorse Caddybag can accommodate various types of fishing rods and fly rod tubes. Simply remove the inserts for the golf clubs and insert your favorite gear. Smaller rifle carrying cases also fit into the Caddybag.

The size of the Caddybag opening is 6" wide, 3" across, and 34" long. The Caddybag can accommodate all types of sporting and games equipment.
